Sustainability
We emphasize a sustainable approach to nature
As the hosts of Hotel Schweizerhof, we love being in the beautiful nature that surrounds us, whether we’re enjoying the summer sunshine with a refreshing dip in Lake Heidsee or a snowshoe hike through the wintry snow-covered forest. For us, nature is much more than just an adventure playground or a pretty backdrop – it is the very heart of our world. From a tourism perspective, it is the essential foundation of our business; from a human point of view, it is a crucial source of strength. This is why we, as a whole team, are passionate about and committed to protecting resources and interacting with nature in a respectful and sustainable way.
Social responsibility
The hotel's own coach
Franziska, our “good soul”, is available to provide advice and support to our employees one day a week. Her first priority is our trainees, but she will always lend an ear to everyone else.
Trainee sustainability week
Once a year, we hold a sustainability week for our trainees. We visit partners and role models in the area of sustainability. For us, it is crucial that our trainees understand and support our efforts in sustainability from the outset.
Children's club for employees' children
As with our younger hotel guests, our employees’ children can also take advantage of free childcare with the “Andalina” children’s club. This way, parents can work in peace while knowing that their children are close by.
Language courses for employees
Our employees can voluntarily take two classes a week to improve their German skills.
Local involvement
Clean environment
Do you love the beauty of our natural environment? Please help to protect it and collect your waste in the clean bag you took with you. You will receive a small gift at reception as a thank-you for helping to keep our region clean.
Cultural commitment
We are committed to culture in the region, and passionate about holding regular, exciting cultural experiences. As President of the “Kultur am Pass” association, Claudia Züllig is passionate about strengthening our regional culture.
Regional partners & suppliers
When sourcing food and other products, we rely on regional expertise and short transport routes. We want to know who produces our food, and place value on a personal connection and discourse with our producers.
Sustainable energy concept
Heat recovery in the hammam
Our Alpenchic rooms, which are located in the same building as our BergSpa, are partially heated by waste heat from the hammam. This way the heat can be used twice, enabling us to save energy.
Investments in infrastructure
The main building of Hotel Schweizerhof dates back to the early years of the previous century (1904). Renovations always offer an opportunity to optimise energy consumption.

2. Attractive luggage transportation offers to Lenzerheide
Take a comfortable and environmentally-friendly ride on public transport to reach us, and have your luggage sent separately. SBB offers various options for transporting your luggage and sports equipment.
3. Savings offers

4. Travelling with children

5. Our thanks to you!
For us, climate protection and preserving fauna and flora is vitally important. Every day, we do everything in our power to make our actions more sustainable. As a thank-you for taking public transport and therefore the more environmentally-friendly option, you will receive a small gift from us when you arrive.
Myclimate
Myclimate is a partner in the “Cause We Care” project. At the Schweizerhof, every guest makes a small contribution each night in the form of a “franc for the climate”. As a hotel, we double this amount and use half of it for a sustainable project abroad and half for one of our own sustainability projects in the hotel.
Swisstainable
Swisstainable is a sustainability programme initiated by Switzerland Tourism for committed and interested parties. Businesses that are committed to sustainability are awarded the Swisstainable label. We are proud to have Engaged Level 2.
Responsible Hotels of Switzerland
The Responsible Hotels of Switzerland group unites the leading businesses in the areas of ecological and social sustainability in the Swiss hospitality industry. Through discussions at numerous events and network meetings, we use synergies to make common progress on sustainability matters.
United Against Waste
United Against Waste aims to halve food waste along the entire out-of-home consumption chain. To prevent food waste, we refrain from offering meat and cheese platters at the breakfast buffet. Our guests order precisely what they want from their table. In this way, we can avoid having to dispose of leftover food on the platters (a requirement of the Foodstuffs Act).
